Robert Mitchell Parsons, 75, of Claremore, OK, passed away on January 28, 2022. He was born to parents Robert Parsons and Mabel Burr Parsons, on 09/23/1946 in Tulsa, OK. Mitch graduated from Webster High School in 1964. He went on to earn his college degree at Northeastern Oklahoma College in Miami, OK and Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK. He graduated with a Bachelor’s in Economics and Minor in Sociology. Mitch served in the National Guard from 1967-1972 Mitch’s resume was extensive and included employment at Hale Manufacturing, Rockwell International, Lowrance Electronics and General Dynamics. He worked as a Benefits Manager for Reading and Bates Petroleum Co. and promoted to the Director of Human Resources from 1975-1990. He then went on to serve the State of Oklahoma as the Executive Director of the Employees Benefits Council from 1994-2009. After 15 years of service, he retired from the State of Oklahoma in 2009. Mitch received his Certified Employee Benefit Specialist Certification from the Wharton School of Business, one of the most prestigious business schools in the country. His hobbies and interests included writing kids’ stories, sketching, golfing and spending time with friends and family. Mitch is survived by his son Rob and wife Lisa Parsons of Claremore OK, daughter Lisa and husband Scott Jackson of Norman, OK, and daughter Kaycee and husband Buddy Salyer of Bartlesville, OK. Mother of his children Nancy McKay. His grandchildren Hillary and husband Chris Baldwin, Cheyenne Salyer, Ryan and wife Samantha Trousdale, Andrew Trousdale, Jake and wife Julie Parsons, Abilene Salyer, Coleman Parsons, Beau Parsons, and Emory Salyer. Great grandsons Lane and Sutton Baldwin. His brother Roy and wife Rita Parsons, Best Friends Don and Sue Mulvane. He was preceded in death by his father and mother Robert and Mabel Parsons, brother Alfred Childers. The family has entrusted Payne Funeral Home in Claremore, OK with the arrangements. A chapel service is scheduled for Tuesday February 1, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Payne Funeral Home Chapel. Internment will immediately follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Claremore, OK. Roy Parsons will officiate the ceremony.
