Robert Escoe Smith, age 83 of Talbott, TN, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday, November 18, 2022. He was born on April 29, 1939. He is preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Rosa (Baker) Smith, aunt, Lizzie (Bob) Davis, uncle, Frank (Pauline) Baker, several other aunts and uncles, and son-in-law, Frank Watkins. Escoe was saved at the age of 14 at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. He was a charter member of Sartain Springs Missionary Baptist Church where he served as deacon, trustee, licensed preacher, Sunday school teacher, and church clerk. Escoe loved the Lord and dedicated his life to serving him. He enjoyed singing with his daughter, the church quartet, and loved playing the guitar. He was a faithful church member until his health declined and prevented him from attending services. He enjoyed painting and was a past member of the Morristown Art Association. Escoe is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Sarah (Hopkins) Smith, daughter and son-in-law, Sharon (Dale) Cline, and daughter, Charlotte Watkins. Special friends include Opal Cameron, Dennis Daniels, Elizabeth Watkins, Rev. Horace Greene, Rick Moore, Roy Smith, loving church family, employees of WJFC Radio Station, precious neighbors, and a host of friends and relatives. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 21, 2022 at Sartain Springs Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the church with Rev. Phil Hopkins, Rev. Roger Porter, and Rev. Lonnie Knight officiating. Graveside service will follow in the Church Cemetery with Rev. Mike Elkins and Rev. Ronald Winstead officiating. Special thanks to Smoky Mountain Hospice for their love and exceptional care.
