Robert E. McDaniel, 80, of Hueytown, passed away November 23, 2022. Robert was born at home in Edgewater, AL to Flemmy and Ethel McDaniel. He graduated from Hueytown High School in 1961 and went on to serve his country in the Navy, including 59 days on the Cuban Blockade. He retired from American cast Iron and Pipe Company (ACIPCO) after 37 ½ years. Robert loved God, family, and country. He enjoyed camping and fishing on the Alabama River, the beach, and Alabama football. He was a faithful member of North Highlands Baptist Church. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter Reagan Marie McDaniel; brothers Donald McDaniel, Dr. Richard Francis; and sister Jean Ray. He is survived by his wife DeVon McDaniel; son Jeff McDaniel (Aimee); daughter Traci Moore (Jimmy); stepsons Brian Purvis, Jeremy Purvis (Brittany), and Matthew Purvis (Julia); grandchildren Gavin McDaniel, Kylee Moore, Carson Moore, Chandler Purvis (Maddy), Abigail Purvis, Cora Purvis, and Caroline Purvis; sister Sara Varnon; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The visitation will be Tuesday, November 29, 2022, from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM, at North Highlands Baptist Church. The funeral service will be at the Church and 10:30 AM, with Rev. Michael Wallace officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at 12:30 PM at Alabama National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to Sav-a-life, Bessemer, AL; Alabama Baptist Children’s Home; or the charity of your choice.
