Robert (Bob/”RD”) West, age 69, was born December 11th, 1952 in Pierre, South Dakota, to Robert and Ellen West. He passed away peacefully Monday, June 20th, 2022 at his home in Shingle Springs, California. Bob is survived by his loving wife, Angela, of 39 years, by his two children Robert West and Lauren (Vincent) Capurro and granddaughter Charlotte; by his sister Carol (Lee) Larscheid; by his brother Wallace (Karla) West; and by numerous nieces, nephews, close friends, work colleagues and car enthusiasts near and far. Bob spent nearly four decades as a civil engineer in the energy sector. His career took him far and wide including Hawaii, Iowa, Houston, West Africa and Kazakhstan. Outside of work, he was very involved with vintage Mercedes motoring, car auction websites, online forums as well as local and national Mercedes clubs. He was also an avid golfer, having been recently inducted into the Hall of Fame at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. He also enjoyed tinkering around in the shop. According to his son, “Bob could fix anything, anything.” It was the engineer in him. A celebration of life honoring Bob will take place at a private residence in Shingle Springs.
