Obituary Robert D. Clarkson, age 85, of Pittsfield, IL passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at his home. He was born on January 8, 1937 in Louisiana, MO to Howard and Arvilla Schafer Clarkson. He married Shirley Lynch in August of 1954 and she preceded him in death on March 3, 1983. He later married Gladys Smith Labby in January of 1986 and she survives. Robert worked for the Brown Shoe Factory and upon its closing, he went to work for the City of Pittsfield as a meter reader until his retirement. He was a member of the Pittsfield Church of the Nazarene. He loved being outside and enjoyed camping and fishing. Robert was meticulous and spent many days working in his yard and many more just sitting in his swing as long as he was able to be outside. He enjoyed attending his grandson’s sporting events and attended Saukee games faithfully. He also liked watching St. Louis Cardinal games. He loved taking trips to Branson with Don and Sharon or John and Doris. He also liked travelling and went to Hawaii, England, and several other countries. Robert was a faithful husband and faithful to his family and his church. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Gladys Clarkson; two sons, Bob (Shirley) Clarkson and family and Wayne Clarkson; two stepsons, Dana Reeder and Darin Reeder; step daughter, Jan (Doug) Jenkins; step son-in-law, Murl Walston; step daughter-in-law, Patricia Labby; grandson, Tyler Clarkson and numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; and brother, Don (Sharon) Clarkson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Arvilla Clarkson; his first wife, Shirley Clarkson; stepsons, Rick Reeder and Lynn Labby; stepdaughter, Joani Walston; and his special Shih Tzu, Sassy. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2022 at 10:30 AM at Pittsfield West Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to be made to Blessing Hospice or Pittsfield Church of the Nazarene.
