Obituary Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends. View Tribute Book Robert “Bob” Weaver, 83, of Linton, IN, formerly of Grayslake, IL, went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 27, 2022, at Autumn Trace Assisted Living in Linton. He was born on August 13, 1939, in Palestine, IL, the son of Donald & Irene (Adams) Weaver. Though his family often moved, he kept finding his way back to Palestine, where his grandparents lived. The Pioneer City was also home to Barbara Kay Adams, who would become his wife on January 11, 1958. The Weavers would soon move up north, where Bob found employment with the Johnson Outboard Marine Corporation as a machinist, a fruitful career that lasted over thirty years. While still working full-time, he enrolled in the Washburne Trade School, where he learned how to hang wallpaper and paint interiors. This education would serve him well, so much so that he was privileged to wallpaper and paint one of actor Robert Redford’s homes! Though he was accustomed to working hard, Bob knew how to relax too. He was a lover of golf and would volunteer next door at the ThunderHawk Golf Club, just so that he could play for free! His lifelong passion, however, was fishing, and he spent countless hours with a rod and reel in his hand. It was a pastime that Bob shared with his father-in-law and friend, Fay Adams, and the two of them were known to take fishing trips together, making many peaceful memories in the process. He also made memories with Barbara on top of their bicycles, and together, they collectively rode for miles and miles and miles. They saw many sights along the way, which included running into the set of the film “Glory”, (a memorable experience, to say the least.) If one thing was evident throughout his 83 years, it was that he loved his Heavenly Father. For most of his adult life, he stayed active in church, particularly at the Christ Community Church in Zion, IL, but it was in the way he lived Monday through Saturday that bore witness to his trust in Jesus. We are thankful that, by the grace of God, Bob’s life will know no end, as he will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Barbara Kay (Adams) Weaver; by his beloved daughters, Tamara Lynn Dube (Grayslake, IL), Teresa Lane & her husband Brian Johnson (Clay City, IN), Traci LaVon Weaver (McHenry, IL), and by his “adopted” daughter, Ann Maria “Tanne” Morocco (McHenry, IL); by his grandchildren, Brandice Elizabeth & husband Kenny Chumbley (Las Vegas, NV), Summer Nicole Nowicki (Wisconsin Dells, WI), and Brandon James Dube & wife Katie Opal (River Forest, IL); by his great-grandchildren, Dominic Austin Nowicki, Elijah James Nowicki, Hunter Lee Chumbley, Maddi Shea Nowicki, and Blake James Dube; by his brother, Jerry & wife Susan Weaver (Mesa, AZ); as well as several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and his grandson, Nicholas Adam Kays. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 6th, at the Palestine Cemetery, with Celebrant Curt Goodwine officiating.
