Obituary Rita Dora Scarpone, 74, of Colonia, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, November 9 at home surrounded by her loving family. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Visitation at the Walter Johnson Funeral Home, Clark, on Sunday, November 13 from 2 – 6 pm. The Funeral begins on Monday at the Funeral Home at 9:00 am, thence to St. Helena Church, Edison, where a Funeral Mass will be offered at 10:00 am. Entombment will follow in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. To offer condolences please visit www.walterjohnsonfh.com Rita was born in Acquappesa, Calabria, Italy to Camila and Brigida (Avolio) Bufaino. She came to the United States in 1964 and worked as a Seamstress and then later at the Evergreen Deli in Springfield for 15 years. She lived in Elizabeth, prior to moving to Colonia 48 years ago. Rita took great pride in her family and absolutely adored her grandchildren. Her passion for cooking was unmeasurable and her food was cooked to perfection. From Sunday dinners to the Holidays and special occasions, Rita loved spending time with her family, surrounded by her delicious food. She always had a way to make someone feel special and loved. Rita is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years, Roberto Scarpone; her devoted daughters, Carmela Burgeson and her husband Ronald and Julie Sikora and her husband Stanley; her cherished grandchildren, Amanda, Michael, Sophia and Marissa; her brother Rosario Bufaino and his wife Lida and many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Gilda Caruso and Maria Orlando and her brother Egidio Bufaino.
