ARNOLD, Rita H. – 92, of Cape May, passed away in the comfort of her home on July 15, 2022. Rita was a graduate of Newark State Teacher’s College, Newark, NJ, with a B.S. Degree in Elementary Education. She later earned her Master’s Degree in Education from Seton Hall University, Newark, NJ. Rita loved children and teaching. She taught for seven years at Dayton Street School, Newark. She was a member of Newark Teacher’s Union and New Jersey Education Association. Rita was active in community affairs. In Rahway, she was a Boy Scout Leader and a Girl Scout Volunteer. She was a member of the CYRC. Rita served as a class mother for her five children. She was active in the PTA of Roosevelt, Madison Elementary Schools and Rahway Junior and Senior High Schools. In Springfield, she was a class mother and active in the PTA of Sandmeier, Gaudineer Elementary and Jonathan Dayton High School. She served as a volunteer with the American Lung and Heart Association. She is predeceased by her husband, Burt Arnold (2010). Rita is survived by her five children, Glen (Eva) Arnold, Ilene (Carrie) Arnold, Hal Arnold, Alan (Kim) Arnold and Halee Sue Howarth; three grandsons, Jared Arnold, Grant Arnold, and Benjamin Leathers-Arnold. Private burial services were held at the Cape May County Veterans Cemetery.
