Richard Sheridan December 24, 1931 – October 11, 2022 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card RICHARD SHERIDAN SR., 90, died October 11, 2022, in Rahway, NJ at the Adroit Care Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Richard is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Sheridan, née Boston, who he married in 1951 when he was just 19 years old. Richard, who was more commonly called Dick, Daddy, and Pop, was born on December 24, 1931, in Scranton, PA to John and Elizabeth (Capel) Sheridan. He was one of 8 children. 6 of his siblings predeceased him. He moved to Newark in 1953 and eventually to Rahway in 1965. He was a retired steelworker from Union Steel, but he held many jobs over the years, often working more than one at a time to support his family. He had 4 children, 7 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren, a large and loving family who live across New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut. He is survived by his eldest son John (Jack) and his wife Carol Sheridan of Edison, his eldest daughter Kathleen (Kathy) Sheridan of Rahway, and his youngest son Richard Jr. (Rich) and his wife Wendy Sheridan of Rahway. He is also survived by his adopted daughter, Mary Zalewski, of Edison, who is the daughter of his sister, Barbara. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Peter Gil and his husband Spiro Gouras, of Poughkeepsie, NY, Patrick Ruiz of Rahway, Christine (Chrissy) Paradis, her husband Mark and their children Lydia and Noah of Monroe, CT, Brian Sheridan, his wife Rachel, their daughters Charlotte and Kennedy Ross and son Jude Sheridan of Ocean Township, NJ, Robert (Bobby) Sheridan and his daughter Gianna, Michael Sheridan and his daughter Riley, and Ariel Sheridan, all of Rahway. Richard’s younger sister, Joan (Joanie) Pesarchick, of Throop, PA also survives him. Dick was funny, grouchy, loving, and often hungry. He cared deeply for all of us, was a good Dad and good Pops. We are grateful for the lives he and our Nan worked so hard to give all of us. We’ll never know anyone quite like him again, a man from a time and place so different to the one we live in now. We’ll miss him always. May he Rest in Peace with his loving and merciful God. Saturday, October 29, 2022, the family will greet guests from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Lehrer-Gibilisco Funeral Home located at 275 West Milton Ave Rahway, NJ 07065.
