Read more about the life story of Richard and share your memory. View Tribute Book Obituary Richard Robert Reyhl – 105 years old Richard Reyhl was born April 24, 1917 in Howell township. He passed away on December 2, 2022. Richard grew up in a family of 8 children in Fowlerville Michigan, where he graduated from high school in 1936. He had many local jobs in the Fowlerville area as a farm hand, worker at a Grist Mill, mechanic at Leopard’s Chevrolet and an operator at a local service station. He married Helen Eckhart on March 14, 1941. They lived most of their life in Royal Oak, Michigan, where they both worked for Ford Motor company. Dick worked on the Ford Tractor Assembly line at the Ford Rouge Plant in Dearborn, as a supervisor at Ford’s Aircraft Engine plant. At the age of 29, Dick joined the Army Air Force. He took his basic training at the Aberdeen Proving ground in Maryland. In 1946, after basic training, he was transported by train to Seattle, Washington, where he boarded a troop ship for Japan. He was stationed near the Haneda Airport. His assignment was to work in the headquarters building as a personal affairs consultant to the officers from 1946-1947. Dick was preceded in death by his wife of 77 years, Helen Eckhart Reyhl, who passed away 10 days before her 103rd birthday in 2018. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Ruth Betterly Reyhl and Ernest Reyhl, siblings – Arden Reyhl, Donald Reyhl, Stanley Reyhl, Dortha Cornell and Charlotte Sherwood. Dick is survived by his sister, Margaret Skym , his brother Fred Reyhl and many nieces and nephews.Dick enjoyed photography in his spare time, was an avid gardener in his neighborhood, took great pride in his lawn and was known for always helping others. After Dick’s wife, Helen, passed away, he moved to the Howell area to be close to family. He has lived in the Oakhaven Retirement community since February 1, 2019, where he met many new friends and enjoyed many activities and was known as the guy that walked everyday.
