Richard “Dick” E. White, age 89, of Campbell, New York passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at his residence with family by his side. He was born on August 28, 1933 in Westfield, Pennsylvania the son of the late James White and Hazel Mattison. He married the love of his life Rita White (Cole) on November 15, 1955. He was employed by the Corning Glass Works as an electrical engineer from which he retired in 1993. Dick will be remembered for his great generosity to his many friends and family. He was an exceptional woodworker with a passion for building. He served in the Korean War and earned three service medals. He was a dedicated member of the Campbell American Legion and served as Commander from 1993-1995 Dick is survived by spouse, Rita White; children: Cheryl (Dale) Carpenter, Judy (Ed) Weaver, Kathy (Charles) Smith, and Sarah (James) Rieffel; grandchildren: Andrew Youngs, Sean Youngs, Anthony (Corrine) Smith, Laura (Kevin) Roethel, Corey (Andrea) Weaver, Lisa (Norm) Weaver, and Angela White; his furry companion Roscoe; 13 great grandchildren; sisters, Sandra Kennedy and Hazel Clinton; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Dick was predeceased by son, Richard White; granddaughter, Jennifer Weaver; and nine brothers and sisters. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Campbell American Legion on Saturday, January 7, 2023 from 1:00pm-4:00pm. Private committal services will be held at the convenience of the family. Carpenter’s Funeral Home, Corning, NY 14830 has been entrusted with the arrangements.
