Rev. Larry Richard’s Obituary After faithfully serving his Lord and Savior for his 87 years of life on this earth Rev. Larry Richard Shew has been called to his heavenly home. He passed away Friday, September 30, 2022 at his residence surrounded by family. Mr. Shew was born January 29, 1935 in Wilkes County to the late Tom Robert and Beulah Porter Shew. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Mae Shatley Shew; one infant son, Robert Shew; seven brothers; and one sister. Mr. Shew was self-employed and was a bi-vocational minister for some 50 years. He founded and pastored Celia Creek Baptist Church for over 42 years. He was dearly loved and will be missed by many. Those left to cherish his memory include two sons, Larry D. Shew and wife Marianne, and Rev. Gary R. Shew, all of Lenoir; two daughters, Lora Houston and husband Sam, and Kathy Wilcox and husband Jerry, all of Lenoir; two brothers, Lonnie Shew and Reece Shew; dear friend, Charlotte Barrett; five beloved grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 2, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at Celia Creek Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Jim McGraw, Rev. Marvin Ford, and his son, Rev. Gary R. Shew. Interment will immediately follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 12:00 to 1:00 P.M. at the church. Serving as pallbearers will be Simon Shew, Josh Shew, Adam Shew, Dustin Bradshaw, Mark Hollars, Kevin Smith, and Kevin Noland. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Celia Creek Baptist Church.
