Obituary Rev. Horace Ellison was born on November 20, 1945, to the late Rev. Frank and Willie Mae (Sanders) Ellison. He transitioned into Heaven on August 18, 2022. Horace was born in Sandersville, GA and moved to Athens, GA where he graduated from Burney Harris High School in 1964. He then went on to become employed with General Time until his retirement in 2001. He was later employed, in 2001, with Madden’s Pharmacy until his health declined and he could no longer work. Horace was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Frank and Willie Mae Ellison along with numerous sisters and brothers. He met and married the love of his life, Sharon Hayes Ellison and remained faithfully married for 38 years until his passing. Horace loved the Lord and the Lord’s people. This was evident in his labor of love in the ministry where he served as Senior Pastor at the Springfield Baptist Church (Comer); Union Grove Baptist Church (Elberton); Springfield Baptist Church (Elberton) and his last assignment at the Carlton Grove Baptist Church (Elberton) where he served faithfully as the Associate Pastor. Servant of God, well-done; you have been faithful over a few things; now I shall make you ruler over many. Horace leaves to cherish his memories, the love of his life, his wife, Sharon Hayes Ellison, of the home; 2 sons, Brian Ellison and Elliott Maurice Ellison, both of Athens, GA; his beloved adopted daughter, Shawonna Curry of Athens; sister, Joyce Ellison of Athens, GA; 2 brothers, Rev. Isaiah (Sherry) Ellison; Mr. Herbert Ellison all of Athens, GA; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Malcolm and Gwendolyn (Rev. Luther) Mahoney; brother-in-law, Wayne (Laura) Hayes and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews . Rev. Horace Ellison age 76, of Elberton, Georgia, entered his eternal rest on Thursday, August 18, 2022. Visitation will be held on Wednesday August 24, 2022 at Mack’s Funeral Home, Elberton Chapel from 12noon-6:00pm. Celebration of Life Service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday August 25, 2022 at Mt. Calvary Family Life Center. Interment will follow funeral service at Lincoln Height’s Cemetery.
