Peggy Dean, 80, of Pryor, passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 in Claremore, Oklahoma. She was born on June 9, 1942 in Barry, Illinois; the daughter of Hubert and Louise (Funk) Staff. She has lived in the Mayes County area for 49 years coming from Quincy, Illinois. She married Phillip Dean on her birthday, June 9, 1982 and together have celebrated 40 years of marriage. Peggy managed Green Country Mobile Home Park for many years in Pryor and enjoyed spending time at home with her husband and tending to the needs of the farm and cows. She also enjoyed tinkering around her flower garden and weed eating. She also looked forward to cooking and knitting. Many children remember her fondly as the “cookie lady,” as she always had fresh baked cookies to bring to the schools, starting at Lincoln, and then to Roosevelt. She was kind, caring, and loving and will be lovingly remembered by all those who knew and loved her. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m., until 5:00 p.m., Sunday, December 4, 2022 at Shipman’s Funeral Home in Pryor. A private family graveside will be held. Peggy is survived by her husband, Phillip Dean of the home; son, Lyle Hunsaker and wife Kim of Adair, Oklahoma; 1 grandson, 2 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Louise (Funk) Staff and her husband, Ralph Hunsaker.
