Obituary Norman L. “Norm” Kniese, Jr., age 96, of Evansville, IN, passed peacefully on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital with family by his side. Norm was born July 28, 1926 in Evansville, IN, to Norman L. Kniese, Sr. and Esther E. (Martini) Kniese. He was a 1944 graduate of Central High School and in 1949 he graduated from the University of Evansville with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management. Norm served his country in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. He was a member of Zion Evangelical United Church of Christ. Norm retired in 1991 as the Purchasing Agent for Evansville Electric. He was a member of the Hadi Shrine Temple. He enjoyed playing trumpet in the Hadi Shriner band and in the Charlie Kroener Orchestra. Norm also served on the Knight Township Advisory Board for 20 years. Norm is survived by his sons, Norman L. “Skip” Kniese, III (Donna) of Evansville, IN and Jeff Kniese (Jennifer) of Greenville, OH; grandchildren, Craig Kniese, Courtney Kniese, Dr. Christopher Kniese (Angie), Drew Kniese, Clay Kniese, and Luke Kniese. Norm is preceded in death by his parents, Norman L. Kniese, Sr. and Esther E. Kniese; his loving wife of 61 years, Martha J. “Martie” Kniese; and son, Mark D. Kniese. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 5, 2022, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Pastor Robert Walker officiating. Entombment will be in Oak Hill Mausoleum where American Legion Kapperman Post #44 will render full military rites. Friends may visit from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, November 4, 2022, and from 9:00 a.m. until time of service, on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at BOONE FUNERAL HOME EAST CHAPEL.
