Obituary Nancy Gail Simmons, age 70, of Baxley, died Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah. Mrs. Simmons was born July 23, 1952 in Statesboro to the late Wilbur Levert Scott and the late Corrine Williams Scott. She was a member of the Eastern Star and was the former owner of Johnson’s Florist in Hazlehurst. Mrs. Simmons was a loving & devoted mother & grandmother and was preceded in death by her husband, Dennie Simmons and son, L. L. Simmons. Survivors include her daughter, LaJune (Nick) Mathews of Glennville; grandsons, Austin Bellah, Dustin (Christi) Bellah and Jacob Bellah all of Baxley; brothers, Timothy (Midge) Scott of Baxley and W. L (Wanda) Scott of Dover. A graveside service will be held Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 1:00 pm at Melton’s Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jackie Gordon officiating. Active pallbearers will be Chris Miles, Cody Crummey, Randy Crummey, William Gordon, Scott Walton and Keith Price. Honorary pallbearers will be The Widow Sisters and all family and friends in attendance. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
