September 16 1978 November 23 2022
Jason Patrick Bennett, 44, was called home suddenly to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 23, 2022. Jason was born in New Orleans, Louisiana (“Nola” as he’d say) on September 16, 1978. He later moved to Alabama and in February 2000, he met Mendi, his best friend and wife of 20 years. As residents of Spanish Fort, AL, Mendi and Jason raised a family together. Jason had four amazing children, Lacie, Brandt, Ty, and Linley. He was forever bragging on the accomplishments of each of his children. He raved over Ty’s football accomplishments, leadership skills and entrepreneurial nature. He was immensely proud of Linley’s skills on the softball field and the basketball court, and he was determined she would one day run the world. More recently, he has had immense pride in working side by side with Brandt in video production and helping to develop his career. “And Ole Lacie,” as he would affectionately say, impressed him as the strong woman and amazing mother she grew up to be. Jason was a brilliant businessman and entrepreneur. He was full of big ideas and visions for the future that only Jason could create. He was fully committed to the growth of his company, MJ Ventures, LLC also known as Malbis, and frequently quoted the line “If you ain’t growing, you’re dying” to everyone on his team. He had an incredible knack for identifying potential in people and motivating them to fulfill what he saw in them. He hand-selected every single member of his team and assembled what he called a “lean and mean” group of individuals that have come to think of themselves as family more so than colleagues. Jason promoted work-life balance and allowed his employees to work remotely (long before ‘work from home’ became so widely accepted) so that they could always be present for their families. He constantly challenged his team and generously rewarded them when they met goals. He also liked to dish out “atta boys” and “atta girls” in a way that the recipient would feel like they won a jackpot prize. He particularly liked to request “atta boys” for himself when he felt they were deserved. He was forever a jokester- the king of one liners- and had a smile and laugh that none of us will ever forget. If you knew Jason personally, he likely had a huge impact on your life. If you thought, you didn’t know him, he was in your living room everyday with his signature TV ads. His favorite pastimes included fishing, boating, and simply tinkering around in his garage with his beloved Labrador, Pearl, while listening to Chris Stapleton. He played guitar well, but truly thought he was the best singer and dancer around! Memories of his dance moves will continue to make his friends and family smile for years to come. If Jason wasn’t in Spanish Fort, you could find him in New Orleans, Louisiana for the fishing, restaurants, Saints games, Mardi Gras, and visiting St. Charles Avenue. When Jason crossed over the state line into Louisiana, he instantly became an entertainer, showing everyone his favorite things to do in Nola. His favorite way to entertain a client was to take them offshore fishing. He would say it was the ultimate trust exercise to be 100 miles offshore in a boat together. His unique way of developing and nurturing relationships was surely one of the keys to his success. Over the last few days since Jason’s passing, his family has been inundated with stories of his impact on peoples’ lives. He gave generously to everyone he loved and anyone he saw potential in. It has been a great comfort to the family to know how far his reach has spread. Jason was preceded in death by his mother. He is survived by his wife, Mendi, his children, Brandt (Hannah), Ty, Linley, and Lacie Edwards (Tyler), his sister, Jessica Richard (Matt), his niece, Lydian, his grandchildren, Russo and Landry, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and relatives in an elaborate family tree. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 2 nd, 2022 from 12 to 1 pm at City Hope Church, with the service to immediately follow. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Youth-Reach Gulf Coast, the Baldwin County Sheriff Boys Ranch, or the Ronald McDonald House. Jason also enjoyed helping families in need during the holidays each year. Please consider paying it forward in Jason’s honor by helping out a family in need this holiday season.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Mr Jason Patrick Bennett September 16 1978 November 23 2022.
