Mike Hardman, age 65, of Smithville, passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at his residence in Smithville, following a period of declining health. Mike was born on April 18, 1957, in Washington, Pennsylvania, to the late Reverend Rondal and Loretta (Brennan) Hardman and graduated from Smithville High School in 1976. He married Dolores Burkey on May 14, 1977, at Wayne Presbyterian Church in Wooster. He worked as a shipping and receiving laborer for Bekaert for 38 years, retiring in April of 2022. Mike was an active member of Orrville VFW Post 3446. Supporting our local veterans was something that was very important to him. He was proud to have been a volunteer firefighter and former President of the Smithville Fire Department Association. Mike enjoyed golfing, was an avid hunter, and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He loved traveling to the cabin in Maryland, going on hunting trips in Southern Ohio, and having a beer with his close friends. But most of all he cherished spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Dolores, surviving are two children, Lora (JT) Swerline of Orrville and Chad (Tiffany) Hardman of Columbia, SC; four grandchildren, Kenley and Piper Swerline of Orrville, and Jayde and Rylee Hardman of Columbia, SC; brother, Charlie (Karen) Hardman of Wooster; brother-in-law, John Hetsch; sister-in-law, Diane Hardman; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Penny Hetsch and Bill Hardman. Friends may call on Friday, October 14, 2022, at Auble Funeral Home, 512 East Oak Street, Orrville, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm or on Saturday, October 15, 2022 from 10:15 am to 10:45 am, at the funeral home. Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, at the funeral home, with Jeff Hetsch officiating. Burial will take place at the Smithville Cemetery in Smithville. Following the burial, there will be a Celebration of Life at Orrville VFW Post 3446, 430 W Market St, Orrville.
