Obituary Born and raised in Aberdeen Maryland, Michael was the son of Beulah and MSgt. Oliver Wilson, Jr., both now deceased. As part of a military family, Michael spent his early years participating in the APG Boy Scouts and the APG Youth of the Chapel Program. He graduated from Aberdeen High School, where he was active in the computer science club and sang with the Kings Men’s Choir and the A Cappella Choir. He attended Drexel University and earned a Bachelor of Science degree with honors in Information Systems from UMBC. Michael also earned a Master of Science degree with honors in Information Technology from Capella University. Throughout his career, Michael worked in IT and information security. He began his IT career with Peterson, Howell, and Heather (PHH) in Hunt Valley Maryland, which was later sold to Toronto-based Element Fleet Management. As a fleet management company serving clients throughout the United States, Canada and abroad, Michael worked in the data systems department. He especially enjoyed the added perk of driving high-end vehicles, such as Lamborghinis, Maseratis and Bentleys. Thereafter, he joined the Pentagon, where he held a high security and top-secret clearance. He was at the Pentagon when it was attacked on September 11, 2001. He was evacuated and returned the next day following the attacks, as part of a team needed to ensure that the Pentagon’s computer systems were repaired and remained operational. For most of his career, Michael worked with defense contractors including BAE Systems and SAIC. He traveled throughout the United States and around the world, providing information systems support at military and government installations. He joined the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), located at Ft. Meade Maryland. There, his work helped to provide information-sharing capabilities to joint warfighters across the military spectrum. Although throughout his career, Michael was unable to discuss much of the work he performed due to its sensitive nature, he had an amazing career working in places around the world on sensitive assignments with people that most of us have only heard or read about. Michael enjoyed reading and learning about computer systems. One of his favorite pastime was designing and building computers. Over the years, he built many systems for himself and for others from the ground-up. He stayed abreast of the advances in IT, making sure that he always had the latest technology and software available. Michael loved spicy food and rarely ate a meal without adding extra spices and hot peppers. His favorite guilty pleasure was watching the Ravens play football while enjoying a bowl of spicy peppery chili or a plate of fiery hot wings. Michael came to know the Lord as a young man and attended the APG Chapel. He is survived by his brother, James Oliver Wilson, his sister-in-law, Linda Wilson, his sister, Dorothy Jean Wilson, his cousin Shirley Davis and her husband, Retired General Russell Davis, a host of loving cousins in Georgia and Michigan and is predeceased by his sister, Sandra Diane Wilson.
