Obituary Michael found himself in many different events, helping absolutely anyone. No matter the physical demand, he was fully committed, with an infectious positivity. The job had to be done, and he never wanted to stop the party, so he always tried to do things on his own. He was fixing his roof when he fell, breaking his leg severely. He had made it through many reconstructive surgeries and was recovering and excited to hear that he had made tremendous strides in his recovery, when unexpectedly he developed a blood clot leading to his heart attack and passing. Michael LeRoy Shomer was born on March 4, 1963, to Jeanene Funk Shomer and Kennith LeRoy Shomer in Ogden, Utah, after his older brother, Steven Kennith Shomer. He graduated from Weber High School (class of 1981) and earned a bachelor’s degree from Weber State University. Utah was his home and his place of refuge, where he led his no less than beautiful, adventurous life. Michael loved being close to his family in case anyone ever needed him. He led all he did with kindness and compassion. He was married to Allison Kay Peck and they were surprised by their son, Christian Michael Shomer. on August 20, 1993, six weeks before due date. Michael said his beginning moments with his only son was the most significant time in his life, holding his tiny premature son who barely fit in his hands, wanting to give him all the love he had every moment he saw him. He expressed his love and appreciation for the NICU staff at McKay-Dee Hospital whenever he told his conversation-starter of the story of his son coming to him. This was just the beginning of a historic friendship between father and son. The pride he felt in being a father could be felt around the world, from driving any distance to be a part of his son’s events to being the happiest, proudest cheering parent in the stands. He desperately tried to pass on his remarkable foosball talents, but still holds the champion title in the Shomer home. Mike greeted everyone he met with a contagious smile, which led him to many lifelong friendships, including one with Cammie Russell whom he met when they were teenagers and connected again and have been together over 10 years, she took great care of him after his accident. Mike was great machinist and excelled at his position at Williams International. He was very proud of his part in making turbine engines, making sure he took his family to his work party every year so he could show us what he did up close. That left us proud and warmed our hearts to hear him express his knowledge and passion for his career. He loved nature and sharing it with his grandchildren, Kaizley Anne Shomer, Emberleyn Jayde Shomer, and Serenity Rose Shomer. He loved to share rocks and crystals they found throughout their journeys as well as fishing and stargazing. Michael was a beloved father and grandfather who freely gave of his time to making sure everyone knew how much he loved them. We will keep him in our hearts and always remember his abiding fatherly advice, “It’s all about love.” Michael’s celebration of life will be held Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden, Utah. A viewing will be held from 5-6:30 pm, followed by services at 6:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations for this celebration of life are greatly appreciated.
