Obituary Michael O’Keefe, 66, of Oakhurst, passed away on February 26, 2022, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center. Born in Montclair, NJ to Wiliam and Eleanor (Kniepp) O’Keefe on March 29, 1955, “Mikey,” as he was fondly known to those closest to him, later settled in Eatontown, NJ, where he raised his family with his wife, Anne O’Keefe, and worked as a Superintendent at Kinder Hook Incorporated prior to retiring. It’s difficult to capture the essence of just who Mikey was without noting that he was a man of great simplicity. He loved his coffee with extra sugar, gardening and landscaping, canned Coca Cola, and Marlboro Red’s. He was an avid fan of WWE wrestling and Court TV and could not easily be interrupted when watching his shows. In the summer, he could always be found sporting his signature white v-neck t shirt and dungarees, betting on his favorite horses at the Monmouth Park Racetrack. But what he loved more than anything in the world was his family. Perhaps his greatest joy in life was being “Pop Pop” to his grandchildren, whom he adored, and who adored him equally as much. He was most proud of the special bond he had with each of them and loved nothing more than to spoil them. He was a strong patriarch of his family, a good friend to all, and a man who would give anything to a person in need. Mikey will be remembered for his kindness and generosity, as he spent his life helping others—whether it be taking a friend to the grocery store weekly, bringing in his neighbor’s mail, or dropping everything to fix a car battery. He will also be remembered for his ability to carry a conversation with anyone, his wit and sense of humor, and for mastering the art of busting just about anyone’s chops. Michael is predeceased by his parents William and Eleanor O’Keefe and his siblings Maryann Boyce, Walter O’Keefe, Patrick O’Keefe, and Johnny O’Keefe. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years Anne O’Keefe, his children Michael O’Keefe, and his wife Karen, of Beachwood, NJ, Korin Modoni, and her husband Joseph of Eatontown, NJ, and Kiara Acker, and her husband James, of Keansburg, his grandchildren Jaime, Joey, Madison, and Graylynn, his siblings William, James, Margaret, Peter, Marie, Patricia, Eleanor, Paula, and Raymond, and many other nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday, March 7th, 2022, from 4:00PM to 8:00 PM and Tuesday morning, March 8th, 2022, from 10:00AM to 10:45 AM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730.
