Obituary Michael Allan Goyda, age 85, of Hockessin, DE died March 18, 2022 at Cokesbury Village in Hockessin, DE. He was born and grew up in St. Louis, MO, where he attended Cleveland High School and graduated from Washington University with a degree in chemical engineering. Mike moved with his family to Newark, DE for a job with Crown Zellerbach Corporation, but spent most of his career at General Foods in production engineering. He helped bring new products, developed through research, from the concept phase to store shelves. Following an early retirement, he pursued a second career aligned with his passion for wine and became one of the first Delaware associates for Total Wines, after the company opened stores in the state. He loved to make recommendations to his customers, and conducted research by visiting wineries in the U.S. and abroad, sampling wines in order to offer first-hand information. Mike served on the Church Council of Grace Lutheran Church, where he was an active member for many years. He enjoyed working behind the scenes; doing everything from serving as the on-site coordinator for building renovations to washing dishes after a Family Promise dinner. He also volunteered in many capacities at Lutheran Community Services and, for about 40 years, worked with Emmanuel Dining Room, cooking, serving and organizing the food supplies for the congregational cooks. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Nancy; his sisters, Dolores Reis and Barbara Brigham (David); his children, Thomas (Kimberly) and Elizabeth Holladay (Russell); his grandchildren, Emily, Brian, Caroline and Steven; and many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, 2033 Graves Road, Hockessin, DE with visitation at 10:00AM and service at 11:00AM. Interment of ashes in the Grace Memorial Garden will follow the service.
