Meghan Smith, born and raised in South Jersey, peacefully passed away on May 18th, 2022. Meghan was born on November 1st, 1974 at Garden State Community Medical Center in Marlton, NJ. She spent her childhood and early adult life in Cape May and later moved to Somers Point where she worked for Sal’s Coal Fire Pizza for nearly 13 years. Meghan was a Lower Cape May Regional graduate of ’92 and went on to achieve her RPN certification at Cape May County Technical School. Whenever she entered the room, she carried a light with her that is hard to compare. Friends and family referred to her as kind-hearted, out-going and always with a smile. Her laugh itself was something that will forever be embedded in memory. Some of the things Meghan enjoyed include, riding her bike, thrifting, bonfires, and being outside on her chair-swing. She had a passion for animals and is now reunited with her favorite cat Snoopy in heaven. Meghan is predeceased by her mother, Claire E. McElrone and father, Francis M. Smith. She is survived by her oldest sister, Corey Smith; sister, Jennifer Smith; younger sister, Madison (Steve Panico); step-brother, Ryan David; niece, Lindsay Smith; niece, Averi Smith; and long-time partner of 23 years, Keith Pilla. To celebrate Meghan’s life, friends will be received by the family on Sunday (June 5th) from 10am until 11am in the Spilker Funeral Home, 815 Washington Street, Cape May with Meghan’s Memorial Ceremony to follow and begin at 11am in the form of family and friends sharing thoughts, memories and sentiments. This will be followed by a luncheon at her late place of work, Sal’s Coal Fired Pizza, 501 New Rd, Somers Point, NJ 08244. All are welcome to attend.
