Maureen Barbara Able, 85, of Lexington, Kentucky, entered eternal rest on Monday, October 24, 2022. She was born May 29, 1937, the daughter of the late Maurice Strider and Mildred Strider in Savannah, Georgia and moved to Lexington, Kentucky as an infant. She graduated from Dunbar High School and was then among some of the first African Americans to be accepted into the University of Kentucky. She went on to become the administrative assistant for the Community Action program where she worked over 20 years before retiring. Maureen was a beautiful soul inside and out. She impacted people in numerous ways. She was a mother figure to many, a friend to all, a voice of reason, a shoulder to lean on, a caretaker by nature and a saint at heart. Maureen was an unconditionally loving, uplifting spirit whose presence will be deeply missed. In addition to her parents, she will be joining her departed grandson, Floyd Dunn. Maureen is survived by husband of forty-three years, Richard Grigsby; three children, Angela Taylor, Aarika Able and Andre Cook; grandchildren, Tasha (Roosevelt) Norfleet, Crystal (Terry) Lipscomb, Jasmine (Bryan) Meads, Brandon (Sarah) Sims, Brian Sims, Imani Garrison, Raven Sanford and Alvondre Dunn. She also leaves behind nineteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Maureen Barbara Able May 29 1937 October 24 2022.
