Mary’s Obituary Mary Lou Hencshel was born on February 27, 1942 in Cleveland, Ohio. She was the daughter of Franklin and Edith Owen. She had a younger brother, Lee who preceded her in death. Mary Lou graduated from Brecksville High School in 1957 then attended Kent State University. She met her future husband David when her parents bought the house next to David’s parents. They started dating in 1955 and became engaged on Valentine’s Day in 1961 while David was a Junior at KSU. They were married in September, 1961. Their first son, David “Scott” was born in November, 1962. After David’s graduation and commissioning into the Army from KSU in 1963 they were assigned to Germany where their second son “Erich” was born in Heidelberg in 1965. Mary Lou was active in a variety of women’s clubs while David was in the service. Her pleasant, friendly personality and devotion to her family were admired by all those who knew her. Her overall charm and grace were beyond reproach. Mary Lou lived a good life that was absent from strife and was an excellent, caring mother to her sons. David often said that she was an angel on Earth. She will be missed but never forgotten by her family, her relatives and friends. Mary Lou and David’s marriage of over 60 years has been one of the greatest true love relationships of all time. Our loss of Mary Lou here on Earth on February 2, 2022 is now heaven’s gain for eternity.
