Martha Jane Staff, age 90, of Traverse City (formerly of Royal Oak), passed away on July 5, 2022. Beloved wife of the late Arthur L. Staff. Loving mother of Mike Staff and Arthur E. Staff. Proud grandmother of Bailey Jane and Ella Staff. Jane received her bachelor’s degree from Wayne State University, where she built lifetime friendships as part of Zeta Chi sorority. She later earned her master’s degree from Oakland University. For over 25 years, she worked as an elementary school teacher in the city of Detroit and undoubtedly loved teaching fourth grade the most. Family was everything to Jane. She absolutely adored her granddaughters and found great joy in spending time with them. Jane was always young at heart and knew more about pop culture than most. She was exceptionally well read and thus a great conversationalist who could talk about almost anything. She was also an amazing listener, eager to celebrate your victories and comfort you in your struggles. However, the thing Jane will be remembered for the most is her kindness, sweet disposition, optimism, and great sense of humor. Her laugh was infectious, and thankfully, she laughed a lot. Jane lived a full and happy life and is now blessed to be home with the Lord. She will be dearly missed. Visitation will take place on Saturday, July 9, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service, 11:00 a.m., at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W. 11 Mile Rd. (4 blocks east of Woodward), Royal Oak.
