Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Martha Leggett, 78, of Carthage, Texas will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 13, 2022, at the Rehobeth Cemetery with Rev. James Williams and Rev. Randy Miller officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. prior to the graveside service at Hawthorn Funeral Home. Mrs. Martha Ann Shadowens Leggett was born January 20, 1944, in Hooker, Louisiana. She passed this life March 9, 2022, in Carthage, Texas. Martha was the older of two children born to the marriage of Herbert and Alice Lucille Elliott Shadowens. She was a graduate of Carthage High School. Mrs. Leggett worked in banking, serving the First State Bank since 1989. She was a well-known face of the firm and loan receptionists. She loved time with family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents. Mrs. Leggett is survived by her loving children, Mark Leggett of Carthage, and Shelly Kruebbe and husband Brandon of Carthage; daughter-in-love, Evonne Trotter of Beckville; brother, Tim Shadowens and wife Elaine of Dallas; grandchildren Austin Leggett of Carthage, Kylie Leggett of Beckville, Anna and Ally Kruebbe both of Carthage; nephews, Kirk Shadowens and wife Melissa of Dallas, Greg Shadowens and wife Ashley and their daughter Olivia all of Dallas, many friends, neighbors she loved as family and her bank family at First State Bank.
