Obituary Marshall was born October 16, 1921, to Cleo and Ruby Jackson in Dallas, Texas. Marshall was one of a kind for various reasons. One, he was a Ross, that name coming from his grandmother’s maiden name. This continued a long line of Ross’: Jerry Ross, Ricky Ross, and Ryan Ross. Another was, he was a second generation born in Dallas, but he never claimed that distinction because he was raised at Point, TX. Marshall was a character through and through and was a beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend to many. When the depression hit, the Jackson’s were forced to move because Cleo was unable to find a job. They moved to Point to live with the in-laws, David Ross Robinson. Marshall was 11 years old at the time. His grandad was a very influential person in Marshall’s life and was the source of wit and wisdom which Marshall was known for. One time, his dad and Marshall took the car to Dallas to a sale and happened by the funeral home on Forrest Avenue where Bonnie and Clyde were laid out for viewing. Marshall’s dad became the Postmaster in Point and eventually a rural carrier. Marshall went to help his dad when the roads were muddy and that brought some interesting experiences. Once he was run over and smushed into the mud. One time he picked up a jackrabbit that had been frightened out of its senses and when the jackrabbit came to and he was holding it, it almost kicked the breath out of him. He met Eloise Havins at school, and they decided to run off to Greenville and get married on March 23, 1940. After the wedding they worked for Homer Havins, Eloise’s father, for a year and then decided to move to Dallas to get enough money to make a crop. Jerry was born in 1942 and Gary Don came along 3 years later. Marshall was drafted into the army in 1945. He took basic training in Fort Bliss at El Paso, Texas. He was shipped to Japan in the Allied Army of Occupation. By this time, he had two dependents which was a basis for discharge. He was discharged in 1946 and went back to his employer in Dallas. A third son, Terry, was born in 1953. Marshall was employed in the making of paint for 40 years and the sales of raw materials for paint. He retired in the early 90’s and moved to Hamlin, Texas to help on the farm with Jerry. He later moved for a year to Sonora, Texas, where Eloise passed away in 2002. He then moved to Anson, Texas and married his second wife, Lucille and lived there until her passing. In 2015, he moved to Oklahoma with family. Marshall was a member of the Poplar & Warner church of Christ. He had served as an elder in the church of Christ in Cockrell Hill and later served as an elder in the Mesquite church of Christ for 25 years. Two of his sons, Jerry and Terry, served as ministers and Don served as an elder. Marshall was preceded in death by his parents: Cleo and Ruby Grace Jackson; his sister Hattie Mae Northcutt; and his wife, Eloise Jackson. He is survived by his son, Jerry Ross Jackson and Linda of Mulhall, OK; son Gary Don Jackson and Linda of Tyler; and Terry Wayne and Melissa of Rising Star, TX. His Grandchildren Ricky Jackson and Ronna; Mark Jackson; Kim Jackson; Lisa Ward and Charley; Paula Palk and Wayne; David Jackson and Shawnya; Brandon Jackson and Camille; Robin Clary and Darren; Michael Jackson and Maci; Mickey Jackson, Dennis Jackson and Summer; Bucky Jackson and Bobby Jackson.
