Marilyn Jane (Reynolds) Neal passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at the Atterdag Village of Solvang in Solvang, CA at the age of 82 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Marilyn was born January 15, 1940 in Indianapolis, IN to her parents Russell Perry and Ruth (Zimmerman) Reynolds. She graduated from Garrett High School in 1957. She attended and graduated from Depauw University with a degree in Romance Languages where she was also a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. She married Richard Neal in 1962. Their marriage lasted 22 years until their divorce in 1985. During their marriage, Richard was an officer in the US Air Force which required them to move often. They lived in Lubbock, TX, Reynoldsburg, OH, Naples, Italy, Colorado Springs, CO, Norfolk, VA, San Bernardino, CA, and San Diego, CA. Marilyn was primarily a housewife but did work several places over the years. After college she worked at the Lincoln Life Insurance Company in Fort Wayne, IN as a Spanish language translator. In San Diego, CA she worked at St. Dunstan’s Episcopal Church as the church secretary then transitioned to Wells Fargo Bank as an executive secretary. Marilyn’s primary interests and hobbies were reading, puzzles, and travel (especially Paris, France). She loved classical music and was an avid and accomplished ACBL bridge player who easily achieved Lifemaster status. She was a joy to all who knew her and had an incredible sense of humor. Marilyn is survived by her brother, Richard, two children, Lance and Jennifer, one grandson, Matt, and four step-grandchildren, Jonathon, Patrick, Darci and Shanna. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the Atterdag Village of Solvang or the Parkinson’s Foundation. A memorial service will be hosted on May 16 at 11:00AM at St. Marks in the Valley Episcopal Church, 2901 Nojoqui Ave., Los Olivos, CA
