MARILYN HIBBERT 2022

2022
MARILYN’s Obituary Marilyn Vickers Hibbert, age 92, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, with her son by her side. She was born August 4, 1930, in Detroit, MI, daughter of the late Edison and Irene (Gierk) Vickers. Marilyn graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Business and Public Service. It was there that she met Don Hibbert, and they were married on September 8, 1951. Don preceded her in death on November 3, 2009. The Hibberts moved to Neenah after Don accepted a position as Chief Financial Officer of Kimberly Clark, a world-wide paper and consumer products manufacturer. Don’s family owned and operated a flower shop in Ironwood, MI, for eighty years. This is how Marilyn became interested in the flower business. Don and Marilyn built and maintained an attached greenhouse to their home in Neenah, WI. They moved to Dallas, TX, in 1985 when the company moved their executive offices. After marriage, Marilyn became a life-long volunteer at schools and hospitals. When she was a young mother, a friends son died of Leukemia. She was proudest of her help with out-patient blood diseased children at the center in an organization called the Child Research Center League, across the Detroit Children’s Hospital, where a scientist did his research for a cure. The organization grew rapidly into a large membership that raised funds for research in children’s blood diseases. It was at the Child Research Center League that Marilyn and Cec Borgeson established a life-long friendship. After Don’s retirement, they moved to Naples, FL, in the early 1990’s. Marilyn was on her condominium board at Bay Colony until 2003. They then moved to the Marbella in Pelican Bay. She participated in reading programs at various elementary schools, and was an active member of St. John’s Episcopal Church. Marilyn enjoyed playing tennis, attending the Naples symphony orchestra, fitness and Tai Chi class, and anything to do with flowers. Survivors include her son, John (Jennifer) Hibbert, Neenah, WI; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Marilyn was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Jo, on November 19, 2021. A funeral service will be held at Neenah’s Westgor Funeral Home, at 11:00 AM, on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, with Fr. Ralph Osborne officiating. The visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the hour of service. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Read More
