View Tribute Book Marie K Kylander, 101, of Wheaton, IL died November 23, 2022, at Central Dupage Hospital in Wheaton IL. She was born May 1, 1921, in Cloverdale, IL to Edwin and Lena (Foxen) Hahn. Marie grew up on the family farm and attended St. Isidore School in Bloomingdale with her beloved older brother Erwin. (1917-1991) Marie holds the distinction of being the first baby baptized in the then new St. Isidore Church sanctuary in 1921 and was a lifelong parishioner of St. Isidore. Marie married John Kylander on April 19, 1947, after his military service during World War II. They were married at St. Isidore Church in Bloomingdale and were together for 66 years until John’s passing in 2014. Throughout the years, whether living in their farmhouse outside of Cloverdale, or in the house Marie and John built themselves in Wheaton, to their home at Wyndemere, Marie loved to host many Kylander and Hahn family gatherings. Commitment to her husband, her family, her friends, and her faith was central to Marie’s view of how a life should be lived. Marie worked at Carney’s Bakery in downtown Wheaton. She enjoyed many years there helping her customers choose the perfect birthday or wedding cakes until her retirement. She was active in the Church each day counting and preparing the daily bank deposits after attending Mass. She was also an active member of the Council of Catholic Women for decades. John and Marie lived in their Lies Rd. house for 33 years. During their retirement years they enjoyed traveling the world with family and friends. In 1993 Marie and John made the decision to be one of the first Wyndemere tenants. While residents at Wyndemere were very active in the community. For many years they oversaw the store for convenience items for Wyndemere residents. Marie was an active participant in the card groups and was a very avid bingo player although she much preferred the games that paid off in cash and not candy. Marie is survived by 2 Nieces, 5 Nephews, Spouses and children of the Nieces and Nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Erwin (Hilde) Hahn, sister in laws; Harriet Kylander and Lydia (Kylander) Kent Thompson, and brother in law Charles (Eleanor) Kylander. Visitation will be Thursday 12/8/2022 from 3:00pm to 8:00pm at Williams-Kampp Funeral Home, 430 E Roosevelt Rd, Wheaton IL. Funeral Mass 10:45 AM Friday, December 9th at St. Isidore Catholic Church, 427 W Army Trail Rd. Bloomingdale, IL 60108.
