Maria (Santiago) Almodovar of Washington Township passed away Saturday, November 19, 2022 at Morristown Medical Center, Morristown. She was 88. Born on June 20, 1934 to the late Juan Santiago and the late Maria (Rodriguez) Santiago in Villalba, Puerto Rico, Maria was an accounting clerk with Atlantic Health in Morristown prior to her retirement. She loved her Yankees, reading, jigsaw puzzles, and cooking Puerto Rican food. She and her late-husband, Angel, loved to go dancing. Devoted mother of Diane Heitner and Robert Almodovar and mother-in-law of Richard Heitner. Loving grandmother to Andre Almodovar, Robert Almodovar, and Rachael Heitner. And last but not least, she was a committed animal lover and mom to her fur babies, Lucky, Tyrone, and Target. Maria’s Life Celebration will include a Graveside Prayer Service on Wednesday, November 23, at 11:30AM at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover. All are invited to meet directly at the cemetery on Wednesday morning. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org).
