Ms. Margaret Louise Phillips age 92 of Hickory, NC, formerly of Virginia drew her last breath here on this earth on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 following an illness. Margaret was born May 24, 1930 in the Maiden Springs area of Tazewell county and was the daughter of the late James Thomas Cornwell and Myrtle Adaline Williams Cornwell. Margaret fell in love at the young age of 14 and there soon after, she married her true love, Raymond Franklin Phillips. They were blessed to spend 76 years loving each other before he passed. Margaret was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and having them with her. She loved to quilt and make apple butter with her church family and friends at the Dailey’s Chapel Church. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Marie, Arabell and May and her brothers, Rufus, Bill, Frazier, Joe, John, and Ralph. She is survived by those who remain to carry on her loving spirit: Her daughter, Gail Johnson and her husband Gordon of Hickory, NC. Her sons: Charlie Phillips and his wife Starlette of Thompson Valley, VA Raymond Phillips and his wife Hazel of Thompson Valley, VA Her sister, Faye Rose and her husband Harold of North Tazewell, VA Grandchildren, Danny Phillips and his wife, Shirley; Tom Phillips; Brian Phillips and his wife, Stephoney; Jennifer Hawkins and her husband, Jeff; Angela Jenkins; Eric Johnson and his wife, Maryia; Jeff Johnson and his wife, Krista; Greg Money and his wife, Karen; Several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren also survive her along with a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. A special thank you to the caregivers of Trinity Village in Hickory, NC for their love, compassion, and kindness to our mother during her final days. A funeral service for Margaret Phillips will be conducted at 12:00 on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Tazewell, Virginia with the Rev. Jamie Mosteller officiating. Interment will follow at the Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield with grandsons serving as pallbearers. The family will begin receiving friends at 11:00 am at the funeral home until time of service.
