A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, October 8, 2022 at 12:30 pm in Holy Cross Catholic Church for Manuel J. Lopez, 80, who passed away October 4, 2022. Father Michael Russo, pastor of St. Ann Church in Youngsville, will celebrate the mass and conduct the funeral services. The family will receive friends and family at the church between 11:00 am – 12:30 pm. A rosary will be prayed at 11:30 am. Survivors include his wife, Zella Hebert Lopez of Lafayette; three children, Angela Bond and her husband Kenneth of Tyler, Tex., Gregory Paul Lopez and his wife Robyn of Hammond, and Phillip Lopez and his wife Janet of Fayetteville, N.C.; two sisters, Francine “Teeny” Forrestier of New Iberia and Wendy Lopez and her partner Connie Moorer of Dallas, Tex.; one brother, Mitchell Lopez and his wife Lisa of Broussard; and five grandchildren, Brigg and Elise Bond, and Adrian, Gabe, and Sarah Lopez. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gernice and Francis Lopez; and two siblings, Joyce Louviere and Francis “Sonny” Lopez. Manuel was a native of New Iberia and longtime resident of Patterson, La. He and Zella have spent the last twenty years living in Lafayette. He served his country in the United States Navy as a young man, and later worked for Texaco for 35 years. Manuel loved the Lord Jesus. He was a Third Degree Knight of Columbus (Holy Cross) and sang in the church’s choir for 20 years. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
