Lyle’s Obituary Lyle Alan Browning, 72, of Ionia, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2022, at the family farm where he lived since 1979. He was born on February 3, 1950, in Versailles, Missouri, a son of Willis Eugene and Hellen Irene (Friedly) Browning. He was baptized at the United Methodist Church in Ionia on August 20, 1961. He attended elementary school through the fifth grade in Ionia and then attended Benton County R1, where he was a member of FFA and graduated in 1968. During high school, he worked for local farmers catching chickens and turkeys. After graduating high school, he went to work in Sedalia at Zephyr’s, then as a welder for DeLong’s and then Clark Equipment. In June of 1970, he met his wife Linda, while she was working at Katz and asked her to go to the drive-in movie. On April 3, 1971, at the United Methodist Church in Ionia, he was united in marriage to Linda Sue Wyatt. This union was blessed with the gift of three children, John Henry, Shannon Noel, and Quentin Eugene. After the wedding, he and his new wife, loaded up their car and headed to Amarillo, Texas, where he drove a taxi and worked at a bakery. In October of 1973, the couple moved back to Ionia and Lyle went to work making stamp presses at Alvy Allen in Clinton. In 1974, he started driving a truck for John D. Friedly in Ionia hauling scrap iron. He then worked for Max Balke in Cole Camp, Wilson’s Foods in Marshall, Missouri Department of Transportation, and finally as a bullet press operator for Sierra Bullets in Sedalia. He worked there for twenty-five years, retiring in 2017. He enjoyed riding his motorcycles, especially his Harley Road King. He put over 200,000 miles on his motorcycles going to Sturgis six times and Canada pulling a homemade trailer and later a camper so he could see the country. Lyle was a member of Freedom of Road Riders and the Sedalia Rod and Gun Club and enjoyed collecting guns and raising cows on his farm and naming them with his wife. He is survived by his wife, Linda Browning of the home; three children, John Browning of Grain Valley, Shannon Hunsaker and her husband Shawn of Sedalia, and Quentin Browning and his wife Heather of Blue Springs; a sister, Janet Iggulden and her husband Ray of Webster Groves; a brother, Victor Browning and his wife Linda of Ionia; and three grandchildren, Adie Hunsaker, Jonathan Browning, and Lexi DeLapp. Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Hellen Browning. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 2, 2022, at United Methodist Church in Ionia with Pastor Harvey Beach officiating. Burial will be in Christian Cemetery near Ionia.
