View Tribute Book Lucile June Burns, age 91, passed away on Nov. 3, 2022 at Putnam Center following an extended illness. She was born on June 24, 1931 to William and Alta Starcher in Spencer, WV. June was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Charles, in 2008; her sister, Willa Booth, and brothers, William Starcher, and Leslie Buell Starcher. June is survived by her son, Geary Burns and his wife Sandy from Teays Valley, and daughter, Gloria Burgess and her husband Moss from Wilkinson. She was blessed with three grandchildren, Brent Burns, Kelley Burns, and Chris Burgess; three great-grandchildren, Emma Crouch, Nate Burns, and Ian Burns. June was raised on a farm by parents who taught her the values of devotion to God and love of family. She graduated from Spencer High School and became a bookkeeper. June and her husband moved to Logan with their two children in 1955. Her favorite activities included attending church, family vacations, gardening, quilting, knitting, crocheting, reading, listening to gospel music, and traveling to Pigeon Forge with her friends. June was a member of the First Christian Church of Stollings where she was a choir member and Summer Vacation Bible School volunteer. She was also a Girl Scout Troop volunteer and a former member of the Logan Regional Hospital Auxiliary. A Celebration of June’s Life will begin with visitation at 11:30 a.m. and funeral services at 12:00 pm on Saturday, Nov. 5 at Honaker Funeral Home in Logan with Pastor John Fry officiating. Burial will follow at Clover Cemetery in Roane county.
