Loren Linville, 79, of Oskaloosa, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2022, at his home in Oskaloosa. Loren Graham Linville, son of Willard Loren and Edna Lucille (Blake) Linville, was born on February 25, 1943, in Oskaloosa. As a youngster, he developed a love of the carnival, and at age 14, he worked for the carnival when it came to Oskaloosa. He graduated from Oskaloosa High School in 1961. He drove a truck for Lynn’s Poultry and then worked for the Oskaloosa Street Department before beginning his 25-year career with Vermeer in the janitorial department. After his retirement, Loren continued his love of the carnival by entertaining children; his Halloween haunted house displays will always be remembered by children of all ages. Loren married Mary Lois Van Steenis, and two sons, Kenny and Jeff, were born into that union. They later divorced. Loren later married Penny Bartlow, and one son, Mike, was born into that union. They later divorced. Loren’s family includes his sons: Kenny (Penny) Linville, Jeff Linville, and Mike Linville, all of Oskaloosa; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sally (Wayne) Crile of Leighton and a sister-in-law, Karen Linville of Oskaloosa and their families. In addition to his parents, Loren was preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie. As was his wish, Loren’s body has been cremated. Interment of his ashes will be in Barnes City Cemetery and a celebration of his life will be held later. Please make memorial contributions to Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter. Loren’s final arrangements have been entrusted to Langkamp Funeral Chapel & Crematory.
