Lois Ann Lutes, 96, of York, died on December 13, 2022 at the Masonic Village Healthcare Center in Elizabethtown, PA. She was the wife of the late William L. Lutes, to whom she was married for 44 years until his death. Born in Denver, CO on June 21, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Ewald and Lela (Hamilton) Petersen. Lois was a graduate of Vallejo High School in Vallejo, California. She was an AVON representative for many years and also worked for JC Penney Department Stores and the York County Visitors Center. She was a member of Locust Grove U.C.C. Lois was also in the Order of the Eastern Star for more than 50 years and served as Worthy Matron from 1970-1971. She enjoyed needlework, and was a lover of animals, nature and music. She was also a Cub Scout Den Mother and was a Girl Scout cookie chairman. Although she spent over 70 years in York, she always considered herself a Colorado girl. She is survived by three children: Diane E. Lind and her husband Les of Mount Wolf, PA, Richard W. Lutes and his wife Nancy of Georgetown, SC, and Carolyn A. Lightner and her husband Mike of York; seven grandchildren: Brent Lind, David Lind and fiancée Amber Olsen, Jennifer Snyder and her husband Richard, Bryan Lutes, Bradley Lightner and wife Dana, Rachel Lightner and fiancé Zachary Fischer, and William Lightner and wife Maggie; five great-grandchildren: Sophie Snyder, Laurie Snyder, Theodore Lightner, Alexander Lightner, Wilson Lightner, and one on the way. A funeral service will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the SPCA of York County, 3159 North Susquehanna Trail, York, PA 17406 or to Locust Grove U.C.C. 1035 Locust Grove Road, York, PA 17402.
