Lloyd’s Obituary Lloyd Jones, P.E, passed away Monday, April 25, 2022. He was 98 and a resident of Vero Beach, FL and previously of Allentown. He was born in Kingston, PA and was the son of Zachariah, Jr. and Louise Roberts Jones. Both parents had immigrated from Wales and he was always proud of his Welsh heritage. He graduated from Bucknell University with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and was a Registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware. After serving in the U. S. Navy from 1942-1946 and graduating from Bucknell in 1949 he worked at General Electric in Schenectady, New York. In 1951 he was transferred to GE’s Allentown Apparatus Sales office as an application/sales engineer. In 1954 he became Industrial Sales Manager for the Roller Smith Corporation in Bethlehem and in 1956 National Sales Manager for Electric Distribution Products Co. in Allentown. In 1958 he established L. H. Jones & Associates as an electrical manufacturer’s representative and following in 1961 he founded Lehigh Electric Products Company as a manufacturer of lighting control systems. Mr. Jones was the Chairman of Lehigh Electric at his death. In the 1970s he locally developed several office buildings and a warehouse facility. He served ten years on the East Penn School District including terms as President and Building Chairman. He was one of the original members of the Lehigh County Community College Board, serving as the Building Chairman of the first campus building. Lloyd also served ten years on the Lehigh Valley Hospital Board and additional boards of the Emmaus Library, Merchants Bank Advisory Board, Lower Macungie Planning Commission, and Lehigh-County Chamber of Commerce. He was an active member at Lehigh Country Club and serving as a past President. Mr. Jones was a twin engine, instrument rated private pilot, owning several planes and an active member of a local flying club. A member of Lodge 395 F&AM 32 Degree Mason of Lehigh Consistory and the Irem Shrine Temple. As an avid golfer, he was a long-term member of Lehigh Country Club and Grand Harbor Golf and Beach Club in Vero Beach, FL. He and his wife traveled extensively to over 50 countries and 7 continents. In support of his Welsh heritage, he was actively associated with the National Welsh-American Foundation. Survivors: Son, Lloyd H. Jones and wife Andrea of Emmaus; Granddaughter, Stephanie Berdik and husband Michael of Charlestown, MA; Grandson, Collin H. Jones of Houston, TX; and Great-grandchildren, Emma and Will Berdik.
