Linda M. (Arnett) Whelan, age 74, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 29, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Harold J. Whelan for 51 years. Raised in Ridge Farm, IL, Linda was a daughter of the late George and Gladys (Woods) Arnett. Linda worked as a medical assistant at Kent Hospital for many years before leaving to raise her family. She was an avid gardener and cherished spending time with her grandchildren. Linda was the loving mother of Renee M. Whelan-Gomes (husband, Jason), and Tammi M. Whelan; cherished grandmother of Zackary Whelan, Lucy Baggesen, Layla Baggesen, and Atticus Gomes; and sister of the late Carl Arnett, and Lana Leanne. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2023 in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home of Warwick. A memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 6, 2023 in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick. Her burial will take place at a later date in the Rhode Island Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gianna Cirella Memorial Fund for Sepsis Research, PO Box 7815, Warwick, RI 02887, www.gistrong.org/donate.
