Linda’s Obituary Linda Faye (Pickens) Hamers passed peacefully at her home in Denison TX, on January 31, 2022, to be joined with her Lord and Savior at the age of 81. Linda was born on May 8, 1940, to Ragnol Pickens and Dymples (Billie Joe Haworth) Pickens in Utica, Oklahoma. Linda graduated High School from Calera, Ok. Attended SOSU in Durant, Ok, and went to nursing school in Denison, TX. She met the love of her life, Robert ‘Bob’ Hamers and they married on June 10th, 1967, in Denison, TX and spent 42happy, loving years together until his passing on March 15, 2009. Linda and Bob started the Metro Answering Service in their home becoming a voice of Denison for so many local businesses. Then came Western Union, Texoma Mobile Marine, a pocket pager service, and an automated calling system for advertising the services of many of their customers. Later running a Bonding agency and an insurance company as well. After selling the Answering Service Linda held a position at American Bank (now First United Bank) for 11 years before retiring. Linda was loved by all she met, always wore a smile, and enjoyed activities with the ladies at her church and bible classes together. Linda loved being on the water fishing, camping on the weekends, picnics, watching wildlife. She enjoyed painting, crocheting, drawing with her grandchildren, all sorts of arts and crafts, sewing, ceramics, researching the family genealogy and loved gardening and raising chickens. Linda is survived by her brothers: James Pickens and wife Patricia, Stanley Pickens & wife Brenda, and Terry Pickens & wife Carrie. Children: John Hamers, Tina Hamers Myers and Robbie Hulsey of Denison, TX, Laurie & Dick Poremba of North Carolina, Jamie Ernst of San Antonio, TX and Stacie & Dan Wyatt of Floresville, TX. Grandchildren: Nichole Myers, Thomas Myers, Jacob Hulsey, Josh Hulsey, William Smith, Jennifer Ernst, Christopher Ernst, Charlie Morehead, Corie Tielke, Clinton Wyatt and Clayton Wyatt.17 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandchild and many nieces and nephews. Linda was preceded in death by her husband Bob Hamers and her parents. Funeral service for Linda will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 12, 2022, at New Beginning Church with Pastor Gene Amerson officiating.
