Obituary Please share a memory of Lawrence to include in a keepsake book for family and friends. View Tribute Book Lawrence Clifford Wright, age 89, went to be with Jesus on Christmas Eve 2022 at his Cedar Hill residence. Larry was born in Flint, MI on February 21, 1933, to Robert and Ella Wright. Not traveling out of Michigan in his childhood, Larry had the dream to travel. And he truly traveled. He, his wife, Mary, and three daughters traveled to most of the states in the United States and visited many different countries. Now he is enjoying the most glorious destination of all—Heaven with Jesus. He graduated from Grand Blanc High School in Michigan in 1951. He graduated from General Motors Institute in the ’50s. He married the love of his life, Mary Ruth Watson Wright, on August 31, 1957. God blessed this union with three daughters: Joy, Wanda, and Sue. Larry worked for General Motors for 35 ½ years as a Tool, Fixture, Machine Designer, and Estimator. He helped organize and direct the Christian Fellowship Meeting at AC Spark Plug in Flint, Michigan. Because of his extensive work and travel in developing a computer program for design and cost estimating, he was given the opportunity to retire at the age of 53 with full benefits. Larry loved Jesus and his church very much. He was a Lay Leader, Sunday School teacher, and active member of his church. He was a certified Lay Speaker Emeritus. After retirement, he and Mary served on the mission field in Zaire, Africa for three months. He was a long-time attendee and board member of the Simpson Park Camp Meeting in Romeo, MI. He started going there as a young man and then with Mary and the girls. It was his favorite place to be with Jesus, his family, and other believers. Larry had a great love for his family of origin and helped the family stay together when his mother died at age 38. He also loved his wife, Mary, and daughters, Joy (husband Daniel Cutchen), Wanda Wright, and Sue (husband Roger Adams) very much. He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, bowling, ping pong, and playing table games with his family. Larry was blessed with seven grandchildren: Josh, Jon, Stephen, Matthew, Brandon, Jake, Lauren, and nine great-grandchildren. Larry had seven siblings. Larry was proceeded in death by his mother, Ella Wright; his father, Robert Wright; brothers: Robert Wright Jr., Bill Wright, John Wright, Les Wright, and sister, Lillian Ekstrand as well as one great-grandchild, Eden Grace Cutchen. He is survived by his younger sister and brother: Lucy (Wayne) Miller and Earl (Karen) Wright as well as his sisters-in-law, Betty (Bill) Wright, Chloe (Les) Wright, and Judy (John) Wright.
