Larry Darnell Stanfield, Sr., 72, of Ridgeway, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2022 at the Salem VA Medical Center. He was born March 21, 1950 in Danville, Virginia, to the late George Washington Stanfield and Clecia Allen Stanfield. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Essie Mae Miller and Florence Richardson. He graduated from Langston High School, served in the United States Navy, and was a member of Word of Life Tabernacle in High Point, North Carolina. He was a minister (elder), chaplain for Homer Dillard Post 78, member of the Teamsters’ Union, and had been a mentor to young people. He had been employed by Miller Brewing Company for 30 years as a maintenance planner. Larry is survived by his wife, Frances Galloway Stanfield; daughters, Jessica Stanfield and Denise Carter; sons, Larry Stanfield, Jr. (Mary), Cory Stanfield, and John Carter, Jr.; brothers, Harold Stanfield (Brenda) and Anthony Stanfield (Mary); and five grandchildren. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at 1:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Fair Haven Memorial Park. Wright Funeral Service and Crematory is serving the family. Online condolences may be made at www.wrightfuneralservices.net.
