Lane’s Obituary Everette Lane Moore, 75, of Anderson, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 23, 2022. Born March 12, 1947, in Anderson, he was the son of the late James Edward and Edith Callaham Moore. Lane was a graduate of Anderson College with an associate degree in piano performance and a graduate of the University of Georgia with a bachelor’s degree in Music Theory and Composition. Lane’s 35 year teaching career began at Fenwick Elementary School in San Antonio, TX followed by Pendleton Middle School and Pendleton High School, where he served a combined 19 years as band and choral director. In 1996, he became the choral director at Dorman High School and served as the Spartanburg District 6 choral coordinator until his retirement in 2010. He received the honor of Teacher of the Year at both Pendleton and Dorman. Lane was a past member of SCBDA, NAfME, ACDA and SCEA. He also served as president of the South Carolina division of ACDA. His classrooms were filled with not only music, but with life lessons that continue to be appreciated by thousands of alumni. He was an accomplished pianist who served as accompanist for the Foothills Chorale until his retirement and performed at numerous statewide and community functions. He was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church and served as music director at Zion UMC, Mauldin UMC, Clemson UMC and John Knox Presbyterian Church over the course of 53 years. Lane fiercely loved his family and was extremely proud of his two daughters, who followed in his musical footsteps. After retirement, one of his greatest joys was being a grandfather (“Bapop”) to his two precious grandchildren. He loved playing piano and enjoyed wood working and nurturing his house plants. Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Janet Ruhland Moore of the home; daughters: Kelly Layne Moore of Spartanburg, SC, and Cheryl Moore Cruickshank (Keith) of Reading, MA; grandchildren: Kathryn and Owen Cruickshank; and brothers: Jerry L. Moore (Ann) of Evansville, IN, Kenneth E. Moore (Betty) of Cleveland, GA, and Ted W. Moore (Cheryl) of Huntington Beach, CA; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and greatnieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Zion United Methodist Church in Anderson, SC on Monday, March 28 at 4:00pm. Family will receive visitors in the sanctuary beginning at 3:00pm.
