Kristina Elizabeth Gjengdahl, age 44, died peacefully at home in North Saint Paul on Friday, December 16. She was born in Saint Paul, Minnesota on May 7, 1978. She is preceded in death by grandparents Henry and Evelyn Gjengdahl and Peter and Elizabeth Michelich. She is survived by her parents Curtis and Elizabeth (Michelich) Gjengdahl, her brother Father Nels Gjengdahl, sister Karin (Steven) Jacobson and nieces Elizabeth (5) and Katherine (3); bonus families and caregivers, Stacy Schaefer, Victoria Hickenbotham, Heidi Cha, Nicole Lienke, Brenda Davis, Diana Michaels, and their families; her Godparents Anthony and Victoria Michelich; aunts, uncles, and cousins. Kristy was born with disabilities and her life enriched all who knew her. Kristy was loved by many and will be remembered for her red hair and bright personality. She liked going for car rides to enjoy a beverage and spend time with her friends and family. She was known for her pointer finger wave, playful games and full-hearted laugh. While she had physical and mental challenges, Kristy was confident and independent minded; always ensuring that things were “just so.” Our family is so thankful for Northeast Residence Inc. (NER), Northeast Metro 916 School District, Mayo Clinic specialists, and all the caregivers, doctors, therapists, teachers, and friends who have welcomed and supported Kristy throughout her life. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at The Church of Saint Peter, 2600 Margaret St N., in North Saint Paul, Minnesota on Thursday, December 22 at 11 AM with a visitation one hour prior to Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Northeast Residence Inc. (NER) or Northeast Metro 916 Education Foundation both located in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. Matthew 19:14 – Jesus said, “Let the children come to me, and do not prevent them; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
