Obituary Kimberly Ann Weyler Spurlock, 65, passed away on March 12 after a six-month battle with metastatic melanoma. Kim was born on November 2, 1956, in Bluffton, Indiana, the second child of Jack and Jean Weyler. She lived in Bluffton until 1967 when her family moved to Bixby, Oklahoma. At age 13, while attending a Lay Witness Mission, Kim trusted Christ to forgive her sins and give her eternal life. Kim attended Oklahoma State University and the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center graduating with a Bachelor of Science in occupational therapy. Her first job was in Fayetteville, Arkansas, working in small hospitals, home health, and early childhood intervention programs. She later became a certified hand therapist. Kim and Keith met at a University Baptist Church singles roller skating party in Fayetteville in 1979 and they were married in that church on November 19, 1983, and made their home in Dallas. After a struggle with infertility, they decided to adopt through Buckner and welcomed a son, Andrew, into their home. Three years later they adopted a daughter, Brooke. Kim had five great loves: God, the Word of God, her family, making photo albums, and the great outdoors. She and Keith for many years taught the New Christians Class for children who had accepted Jesus and were preparing for baptism. Later Kim became involved in the First Baptist Women’s Ministry through Heart Light, Mother’s Heart, Mentoring Moms and Bible study. The women in these groups knew her as gentle, kind, compassionate and committed. Her family knew her as always thankful in any and every situation. As a Creative Memories consultant and later in working for Youngevity and My Life PhotoBooks, Kim made many photo albums and also organized scrapbooking retreats for women. Her camping, hiking, and jogging exploits are memorialized in her albums. A few months ago, she joined the Ladd Preservation Advocacy group in their efforts to have a 42-acre tract of land in Duncanville declared a nature preserve. Now in heaven, Kim knows that these advocacy efforts were successful. Kim is survived by her father, Jack Weyler; brother, Todd Weyler (Anne); husband, Keith; son, Andrew; daughter, Brooke Lyons (Micah); grandsons, Eli and Finley Lyons; and granddaughter, Margot Lyons. She was predeceased by her mother, Jean Weyler, and her older sister, Karen Weyler. In her own words, Kim said that she would like to be remembered as “an encourager, a true friend, and someone who prayed for others”. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Baptist Dallas Children’s Ministry or to First Baptist Dallas Women’s Ministry. Funeral Service is 1:00 PM Monday, March 21, 2022 at First Baptist Church, 1707 San Jacinto Street, Dallas, Texas 75201.
