A celebration of his life will be held at 3:00 on Sunday, November 20, 2022 at Wheeler Funeral Home, Covington, Georgia, with visitation for family and friends from 1:00-3:00. Kenneth Lamar Griffith was born on October 18, 1947 in Atlanta, Georgia. Kenneth loved to travel (especially cruising), playing cards, listening to Southern Gospel music, and racing cars on dirt tracks (in his younger years). He loved his two cats Boo and BC and to cut grass for people. Most importantly he just loved to help others whenever he could. Kenneth had a gift of gab and loved to make people laugh by telling stories from his past, usually at his own expense. More importantly he made sure to the tell stories of how God brought him through some tragic times and protected him on the road while driving his tractor trailer for thousands of miles. Kenneth owned and operated many small businesses over the years with his current being K & L Hauling, Inc. which he’s had for over 30 years. He was employed by Eastern Airlines for over 20 years and served his community as a volunteer fireman, policeman, city councilman and Justice of the Peace. Kenneth was a faithful member of Community Church of Praise in Stockbridge, Georgia where he served as a deacon there for the past 9 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Grady and Alice Griffith; sister, Alene Brand; granddaughter Jessica Sue Lauren Jones, who affectionately called him “Turkey.” He is survived by his loving wife Sheryl Capes Cross whom he married in 2009. They have enjoyed a very full and blessed life checking off their bucket lists together. He’s also survived by his children Judy Diana Jones and Joshua Daniel Griffith; sister, Faye Ridling; granddaughter, Christina Lynn Jones; great-grandson, Kastiel Lamar Soley and many nieces and nephews. He was also blessed to share his love with Sheryl’s family – Jennifer Cross Smith (Jason), Stephanie Cross Turner (Roger), and Amy Cross Ussery (Chris); grandchildren Chase Aslinger, Natalie Carter, Addison Smith and Max Smith, brother-in-law Monty Capes (Cori); and most importantly to him, Sheryl’s mother, Glenda Burleson, whom he thoroughly adored. Flowers are appreciated, and any donations may be made in Ken’s name to Community Church of Praise, American Lung Association, or American Epilepsy Foundation.
