Kenneth Eugene Madison, a retired Journeyman Union electrician who was a member of the I.B.E.W. Local Union 136, and a life-long resident of Birmingham, Alabama, passed away on December 27th , 2022 at the age of 83. Kenneth is survived by his wife of 60 years, Kunika Madison; his children, Debra Lawrence, Melinda Fortner, and Monika Croom (husband Richard); his grandchildren, Austin Fortner (wife Tabitha), Madison Fortner (husband Corey), Colson Lawrence and McKenna Lawrence; his great grandchildren, Robbie Fortner, Charlie Fortner, and George Fortner. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents Charles David and Dona Madison; his siblings, James Arnold Madison, Delton Dean Madison, and Betty Reed. Kenneth was born in Walker County, Alabama on August 29th, 1939. He grew up in Cordova, Alabama and graduated from Cordova High School. He was honorably discharged from the National Guard of Alabama and as a Reserve of the Army of the U.S. on May 13th, 1958. On April 20th, 1962, he was honorably discharged from the Navy. While serving in the Navy, he completed classes in Electrician School and Motion Picture School. He was always a phone call away to help anyone in need including strangers. He was a mechanical genius who could repair anything. He had a unique ability to have the patience to teach those with far less handyman skills. Family always came first and his devotion never wavered. Watching the grandchildren play in sports filled his soul. Being financially sound, he was able to be very generous to the family and provided support to all. He was an avid fisherman and loved college football. You could always find him in his easy chair for Alabama Crimson Tide football Saturdays. Seafood was his delectable choice and catching his own was even better. When he was asked what he wanted to do on his “Bucket List”, he said, “Nothing, I’ve done it all. I’ve traveled the world while in the Navy; I married Kunika and I had the best three girls anyone could ever ask for.” Friends and family describe him as a wonderful man who was a joy to be around and will be terribly missed. The funeral arrangements will be held at Crestview Memorial Funeral Home located at 5250 Veterans Memorial Drive, Adamsville, Alabama 35005. The visitation will be at 12:00 noon and the service will begin at 1:00 p.m. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Kenneth, please visit our floral store.
