Burlington – Katie Holyfield Humphries, 93, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at Alamance Health Care after several years of failing health. She was born in Surry County on June 1, 1929 to the late Henry Calvin and Mary Ella Davis Holyfield and was the wife of the late Charlie Roger Humphries. Katie was a longtime member of People’s Memorial Christian Church and the Light Bearers Sunday School Class. She volunteered with Hospice of Alamance-Caswell and in her free time, enjoyed gardening, camping and baking. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Janie Humphries; granddaughters, Courtney Gerringer (Eric) and Kelly Martin (Chuck) and great grandchildren, Adam and Katlynn Gerringer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger; son, Michael Roger “Mike” Humphries; parents, six brothers and five sisters. The funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. John Shields with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:45 prior to the service at the funeral home.
