Kathryn A. Johnson (nee Long) ,age 69, of Pennsville, died peacefully at home on Monday Oct. 31st surrounded by her family following a long illness. Kathryn was a lifelong Salem County resident born in Salem to the late Frank E. Long Sr. And Eva Mae Long (nee Hogate). She was preceded in death by her husband James R. Johnson, a sister Jean T. Long, brother in laws Floyd (Lew) Messer & Michael Scerati. We can’t forget her Lil fur baby “Skippy” who obviously stole her heart as she continued to long for him and tell stories about him throughout her last days. She is survived by 2 children, her daughter Lisa Johnson with whom she resided, a son Cecil Dombrovski and his wife Pam from Kathleen,GA, brothers Russell Hogate (Maxine) from Wichita Falls, TX, Frank E.Long Jr. (Christine) Edison,NJ, Gerald Long (Sharon) Chesapeake, VA, and sisters Linda Messer from Pennsville and Barbara Scerati from Carneys Point. Kathryn was also survived by many nieces and nephews. I must include her last two fur babies who miss her sorely “Precious” and “Maggie.” Although I was unable to find every diploma, I’d like for my sister to be remembered for the career oriented and public servant that she was. She started as an LPN back in the early seventies graduating from Salem Community College then went on to Rowan and Rutgers receiving her bachelor’s then Masters finally heading to Widener University she didn’t stop until she obtained her nurse practitioner license. She worked in the inner city in Southwest Philadelphia as a family practice practitioner then decided to specialize in dermatology. Her last job was for Accredited Dermatology in Vineland from 2012 till 2017 when she retired. Through the years she taught LPN students at Salem Community College and she was the house supervisor at Underwood Memorial Hospital where she also worked as the head nurse in Pediatrics. Some of the hospice nurses who came through at the end of her life remembered her as a teacher. I hope anyone who has come across her during their career has fond memories. Her work is done now and I’d like to give a special thanks to Bayada Hospice for the wonderful care and support they gave to our family when we needed it the most. Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Monday November 7th from 4:00pm to 5:30pm with the service being at 5:30 pm. at Ashcraft Funeral Home 740 South Broadway Pennsville New Jersey. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Bayada Hospice or the American Heart Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Kathryn A Johnson July 29 1953 October 31 2022.
